We started off getting things cleaned up for the next phase of the laundry room. First, I took a ton of construction debris from a few of our previous projects to the dump (Berkeley Transfer Station). Well not quite a ton, turned out to be 1680 lbs. There was a combination of wood from the old porch steps, Sheetrock and plywood paneling that was in the laundry room, and a pile of concrete, bricks and scalloped edging.

After returning from the dump it was time to make some room for tomorrows purchase of sheetrock and plywood for the laundry room. I re-stacked my lumber collection to clear a 4 X 8 area to stack the sheets. I really need to get around to building a lumber rack on the wall so I am not always re-stacking the pile since I always seem to need something from the middle of the stack.

While I was cleaning up the garage floor, Mary was busy taping and mudding the walk-in closet we built for the basement bedroom. When we enclosed the area under Zachary’s room we made a closet on one side and a garden storage area out of the remaining space. Having this closet available gives us a place to stuff all the crap we were storing in the laundry room.

Tomorrow will be a busy morning at the local Home Depot purchasing roughly 3 sheets of plywood, 15 sheets of Sheetrock, bats of insulation, and framing 2X4’s. The sooner we get that all up on the walls the sooner we free up the space in the garage I just created. That nice new space we now have in the garage will only be there through the night.
