Our neighbors have decided to build a second house on their lot in order to bring the rest of their family over to the US. It started with the removal of the 150-200 year old heritage oak trees in their back yard. This past week they had a surveyor come out to mark the property lines and mark where the foundation forms were to be set. The property line dividing our two lots happens to be right against our house. In fact, part of the eves and gutters happen to hang over. 100 years ago they were not so exact with lasers, or figured an inch here or there was close enough. After the strings were strung, the neighbor came over with the aid of a translator and told us that 3 lengths of fence were 2-3 inches on their property and they plan to move them. I said fine, as long as they did all the work and set them back in the ground. I originally built the fence 3 years ago and placed it where a previous fence had lived. One thing they didn’t mention was that they planed to build the fence the entire length between our properties. (I guess it was my fault for not reviewing the plans when we received notification from the city of the application for permit) Overall they did a pretty good job of building the fence in the same style I originally built.

What annoys me the most was the fact that they didn’t bother to move the garbage can when they built the fence and I had to remove the gutter downspout in order to pull out the can. I guess I will no longer be storing the can on the side of the house.
